Placement of Main Trees

Image 1
After you have selected the trees, they should be arranged by size. You are now ready to prepare your pot or slab for planting. Container preparation requires that the potšs drain holes be covered with screen to prevent the soil from coming out of the bottom of the pot. Wire is used to anchor the trees.

A thin layer of bonsai soil is placed in the bottom of the container and the anchor wires are layered over the edge of the pot.

The placement of the three main trees is critical to the success of the grove. They will be the focal point around which the entire planting is structured. They should be placed in a triangular pattern separated by unequal distances. One of bonsaišs basic objectives is to produce as an authentic recreation of nature as possible. Trees are not organized symmetrically in nature, therefore, symmetrical organization should be avoided in grove plantings.
