| Care Sheet - Chinese Elm |
|
Ulmus parvifoliaSubmitted by: Adam Counts Common Name(s):Chinese Elm Sun:Outside- full sun-part shade. Inside-bright location Temperature:Shelter from long rain periods, and strong winds. In winter tempatures below 10 degrees can cause fine shoots to die back. Watering:Water when the surface is almost dry. Elms are more thirsty in early spring and early summer. Training:Chinese Elm's have brittle branches, so wiring can easily bite the bark, and the branches easily break. Directional pruning is the best way to train. Fertilizing:Feed a well balanced food while the tree is growing. Rapeseed works real well. Repotting:Every one to two years. The roots are easily damaged so watch out. Propagation:Cuttings-hard or soft, seeds Pests/Diseases:Relatively pest free. Additional Comments:A great tree for the beginer. Have something to add? Fill out your own caresheet. |
